Personalised bricks to pave history
Our Lady of Lourdes Primary School is celebrating its centenary next year and invites past and present students to buy a personalised memorial brick which will be paved in the new memorial garden.
Our Lady of Lourdes principal Angela Hegney said people with some connection to the school were welcome to buy a brick.
“We want to invite community members who have had a connection to the school in the past or people who are at the school at the moment, they can purchase a memorial brick which will be paved into our memorial garden,” Mrs Hegney said.
“The garden will be officially opened at our official celebration on February 15 next year.
“It used to be a veggie garden but we are re-designing it with some seating and the bricks will be paved into a cross shape.”
Mrs Hegney said the memorial garden would be a place for people to witness the history of people who attended the school.
“It will just be a nice entrance to the school where people can sit and reflect and look at all the people who have been a part of our history,” she said. “It will be a nice space to be able to celebrate our school and the 100 years of history we have had which has brought us to where we are today.”
Mrs Hegney said people wanting to buy a personalised brick should contact the school.
“Call the school office or have a look at our school’s Facebook page to find out more information,” she said.
Mrs Hegney said all order forms must be completed and handed back to the school by Monday, October 14.
