Bunbury Regional Entertainment Centre is the best presenter in the State after coming in ahead of two other finalists at the inaugural Pinnacle Awards last month.

The awards, created by CircuitWest, acknowledge the high level of skill and expertise needed to create, present and tour live performance and deliver cultural programs.

BREC claimed Western Australia Presenter of the Year at the awards on May 23 when industry peers voted on a winner based on providing excellence in performing arts.

Executive director Fiona de Garis said the BREC board was honoured to be the first recipient of the award.

“It’s a huge achievement for the incredibly dedicated staff and volunteers at BREC and real win for the whole South West region,” Ms de Garis said.

“To be voted the leading performing arts venue in Western Australia by WA producers, who tour to hundreds of venues across the country, is a real endorsement of our hard work.

“It recognises the role we play in bringing artists and audiences together to share both entertaining and transformative experiences, as well as the world-class facilities and team we have here at BREC.”

Other nominees for the award were Mandurah Performing Arts Centre and Ravensthorpe Arts Council.

Mayor Gary Brennan said the award cemented BREC’s reputation as a world-class entertainment venue.

“On behalf of (Bunbury City) council I would like to congratulate the sensational team at BREC for all their hard work and dedication for ensuring the facility continues to provide the community with stellar entertainment year round,” Mr Brennan said.

“I encourage the community to rediscover our city’s vibrant night life with a visit to BREC for an experience to remember.”
