Police investigate Carey Park fire

Police are investigating a suspicious fire which burnt through a Carey Park home overnight.

Firefighters were called to the Nuytsia Avenue home about 11.30pm when a member of the public reported flames coming from the house.

Firefighters quickly determined the residents were not home at the time.

It took firefighters about 15 minutes to contain the blaze and it was fully extinguished by 12.12am.

Career and volunteer firefighters from Bunbury and Eaton/Australind battled the blaze and handed over the site to police about 7am.

The cause of the fire is not yet known, but is being treated as suspicious.
