South West police are investigating a terrifying head-on crash that occurred on Bussell Highway on Saturday night.

An 18-year-old woman remains in Fiona Stanley Hospital after a car collided with her vehicle somewhere between Fishermans Road and Capel Golf Club near Stratham about 11pm.

Her 20-year-old male passenger was taken to Bunbury Hospital, but was later released with suspected broken ribs.

The 47-year-old male driver of the other car – which police say was being driven north in a south-bound lane – was uninjured and waiting the results of a blood test.

Bunbury police officer-in-charge Sen. Sgt Mal Jones said the driver refused a breath test at the scene and was later taken to Bunbury Hospital where a blood sample was taken.

He said the man was seen walking around and yelling immediately after the crash.

Police have spoken to several witnesses but are asking for anyone else who may have seen the crash to contact them.
