Homes in Gelorup, Dalyellup and College Grove were without power for several hours on Monday night after a ute slammed into a power pole on Bussell Highway.

Bunbury police are investigating the crash, which saw the single male occupant taken to hospital.

The 74-year-old Dunsborough man’s ute crashed into a power pole about 5pm at the intersection of Loretta Avenue and the highway, bringing down power lines and causing black outs in the area.

Officer-in-charge Sen. Sgt Mal Jones said the driver was up and talking immediately after the crash and was released from hospital a short time after the incident.

Sen. Sgt Jones said the cause of the crash was unknown, but it was believed alcohol was not involved.
