Postal voting to stay for Capel shire

South Western Times

The Shire of Capel local government elections in October will continue to be held as a postal election after the council appointed the Western Australian Electoral Commission as the responsible party at last month’s council meeting.

Residents will receive a voting package in the mail and will not be required to attend a polling booth to cast their vote.

It is predicted the counting of votes and the cost of undertaking the election will be $49,000, which does not include advertising, legal expenses and postage fees.

The council has conducted its elections by postal vote since 1999.
