The Giadresco stable’s most promising thoroughbred, Profit Street, will begin the most important campaign of his career tomorrow when he races in the $150,000 Prince of Wales Stakes (1000m) at Ascot racecourse.
Trainer Matt Giadresco has big plans for the H. G. Bolton Sprint winner, with the Group 3 Colonel Reeves, the Group 2 Lee Steere Stakes and Group 1 Winterbottom Stakes all in his sights.
“He definitely has the ability,” Giadresco said.
“We are not at our peak yet. We are maybe at 95 per cent.”
Giadresco said a one-month spell for the six-year-old was not ideal preparation for the upcoming series, but he was still confident of success.
“I would like a proper spell from the winter,” he said.
“Everyone else is in the same boat.
“This is his turn to prove that he should be there.”
Champion jockey William Pike will take the ride tomorrow, having paired with the gelding successfully on a number of occasions.
“When we won first up with Pikey last prep, it was his sixth ride on the horse for five wins,” he said.
“Pike has the ability to keep him in the race even if he is sitting last.
“This is important for him across the 1000m.”
