As the Perth, Peel and South West regions attempt to persevere through the COVID-19 lockdown, this weekend’s sporting landscape remains unclear.

Despite the lockdown pencilled in for a 6pm finish tomorrow, as it stands, a number of events are in limbo due to the changing nature of the situation.

The AAA Metal Recycling Krikke Boys Shootout was due to be held at the Perth Motorplex on Saturday night, however, whether it goes ahead remains to be seen.

Event organiser Ron Krikke told the South Western Times a decision on proceeding with the race would be made once updated government advice was provided.

All senior and junior cricket matches have been cancelled in Bunbury this weekend, with Bunbury and Districts Cricket Association president Russell Lindroth outlining the process behind the decision.

“We have to cancel because we cannot prepare turf pitches for the weekend,” he said. “It was going to cause too many hassles in postponing the round at a later date.”

All Bunbury Basketball Association A-grade matches slated for tomorrow night have been called off, along with week two of the BWA Country Championships.
