Region’s top talent to perform at mayor’s event
Mayor Gary Brennan and his wife Robyn Morris will use a traditional annual sundowner to showcase and promote some of the region’s best entertainers.
Mr Brennan felt inspired to use his annual get-together to highlight the rich and diverse array of talent in the Bunbury Geographe region to the community.
The Mayor's Annual Variety Performance will be held at the Bunbury Regional Entertainment Centre on July 20 and will also serve as a fundraiser with all proceeds from ticket sales donated to the performing artists and groups.
Mr Brennan said there was a fantastic selection of talent in the region and the productions put on year after year by all the different companies were “first class”.
“A variety performance offers everyone in the community a fantastic taster of what these companies can do and a glimpse of coming productions,” he said.
“These performing groups are all run by dedicated volunteers who each year put on sensational productions with a huge amount of passion, but limited budgets.”
“This is an opportunity for people to come along and experience what our very own South West performers have to offer and at the same time support local talent.”
The impressive night of entertainment will feature music from The Phantom of the Opera and Les Miserables by the South West Opera Company along with performances from Philharmonic South West, the WA Opera Company’s Rob Littlewood, the Studio of Classical and Contemporary Dance and Nerida Mangano.
The Bunbury City Band, Naked Villainy Theatre, Top Jazz Ballet and dancer Jessica Newell will also perform.
Tickets are on sale at BREC at $20 for adults and $15 for children.
