Restricted burn period in force

Capel residents are being reminded the restricted burning period began on Friday and will end on December 14.

The period allows no burning off or lighting open fires without obtaining a Permit to Burn from the fire control officer.

Until the end of November, residents are reminded to install firebreaks and take all possible preventative measures, including slashing grass, cleaning gutters and removing dead shrubs.

Bush Fire Prevention Orders were mailed to residents in September but a copy is also available on the Shire of Capel website.

Compliance inspections will start on December 1.
