The South West Slammers confirmed their first major signing of the 2022 NBL1 West season, with former junior Tori Dugan signing with the women’s program. Dugan, who plays college ball for Lakeland College in Canada alongside former Slammers MVP Zaya Black, possesses several intangibles (including hustle and decision making) which could aid Peter Nalder’s young team. Dugan is averaging 31.6 minutes per game as a starter for the Rustlers, who have won six games in a row. Off the court, she is studying business administration. The signing capped off a significant weekend for the Slammers, with two sides competing in WABL State Championship grand finals in Perth. In the under 17 girl’s championship decider, the Slammers pipped Cockburn 28-27, with Addison Edwards getting her side over the line in the dying seconds — while the under 19 men’s championship team were on the wrong side of the same score in their grand final.
