An alert continues to be in place as smoke is expected to build up between Boyanup and Donnybrook over the next few days.

The Department of Biodiversity, Conservation and Attractions Parks and Wildlife Service started a prescribed burn on Wednesday about 10km east of Dardanup.

The department issued a smoke alert saying the smoke is thick and people need to take appropriate action such as shutting doors and windows and driving to conditions.

“This burn has been identified as high priority, reducing fuel loads and assisting in protecting the area,” a statement from the department said.
