Bunbury-raised Australian defender Josh Risdon will be part of the Socceroos squad to try to qualify for the 2018 FIFA World Cup.

The 25-year-old left the Perth Glory this year to play for the Western Sydney Wanderers after eight years with his home club.

Risdon has played three official games for the Socceroos since his debut against Bangladesh in 2015.

The opening match is on October 5 in Malaysia, with the Socceroos host Syria at ANZ Stadium five days later.
