South West Development Commission seeking community nominations for vacant board position
The South West Development Commission has made the call for nominations for a vacant community appointment on their board.
The spot will be made open when former Bridgetown-Greenbushes councillor Pat Scallan’s term ends.
A candidate with interest and knowledge relevant to regional communities is requested in the appeal.
In the call for nominations the organisation said it was looking to increase diversity on the board.
“The Commission is seeking to further strengthen its diversity, so people of Aboriginal or migrant backgrounds are strongly encouraged to apply,” it reads.
The board comprises of six members and meets bi-monthly, deciding on development projects and setting policy.
South West Development Commission chief executive officer Mellisa Teede said she wanted to see community represented on the board.
“We are encouraging members of the community to apply for a community position on the Board,” she said.
“We will be looking to further increase our diversity and complement the skill sets within the Board.”
Nominations close on Monday January 15 at 5pm. Applications can be made at www.swdc.wa.gov.au.
