South West pair help Kookaburras into quarters
Two Bunbury hockey stars have helped the Kookaburras reach the quarter finals of the FIH Men’s Hockey World League Final in India.
The Australian Hockey team is yet to win a game in the series, but three draws have seen them finish third in Pool B, behind Germany and England.
The South West’s Jake Harvie and Tristan Clemons have been prominent parts of the campaign, with the latter having a significant impact as goalkeeper.
Harvie was a late call-up to the squad due to a number of injuries, having impressed in his international debut earlier this year.
The Kookaburras started their campaign with a one-all draw against host nation India on Saturday morning thanks to a 35th minute goal from Jeremy Hayward.
Australia followed this up with a two-all draw against Germany that night after a late fight back from the Kookaburras.
The Kookaburras made it three draws from three games when they tied with arch-rivals England two-all on Monday night, ensuring a finals berth as they attempt to defend their title.
Australia battled Spain in the quarter finals of the tournament last night.
The final of the tournament will be played on Sunday.
