South West set for 11 days of world-class surfing with Margaret River Pro back for 2024

The South West’s world-class surfing event is back for another year, with the Margaret River Pro getting under way at Surfers Point on Thursday. Entry to the event is free, with a number of additions happening on site including merchandise stands, sponsored giveaways and food trucks. A number of events will also take place after the day’s action, with the River Hotel featuring live music from Pretty Uglys and The Beefs on April 19 and the Settlers Tavern playing host to the premiere of surf movie Revival on April 20. Surfing will take place between 7am and 5pm on ‘on’ days, with updates on conditions available through the World Surf League’s app and Instagram page. Parking will be available at Riflebutts Reserve during weekdays and McLeods Paddock opposite the Margaret River Golf Course on the weekends, with shuttle busses running on rotation. The action can also be watched live on the World Surf League’s website. The event holds critical importance to the World Surf League’s Championship Tour as the final event before the mid-season cut. Gabriel Medina (men’s) and Carissa Moore (women’s) — who has since stepped away from the world tour — are the defending champions of the event, while world No.5 Jack Robinson, rookie Jacob Wilcox, qualifier Otis Moore and Gracetown’s Bronte Macaulauy will be among the West Australian talent on display.
