South West Slammers to open season against Eastern Suns before heading to Kalgoorlie to play Goldfields Giants

South West Slammers will start their NBL1 West season at home against Eastern Suns before undertaking the competition’s longest trip to take on Goldfields Giants in Kalgoorlie in their second game. Fixtures for the 2025 NBL1 West season were announced last week, with the Slammers set to take on the Suns in their home opener at Eaton Recreation Centre on April 5 before they make a near-1500km round trip to play the Giants at a newly-redeveloped Niels Hansen Basketball Stadium on April 12. Opening their campaign against the Suns means the Slammers men’s team will play host to the debut of one of the biggest signings in the competition’s history, two-time Perth Wildcats championship player Terrico White. Bunbury product Tiahna Sears won the most valuable player award for the Suns’ women’s side last year but the club is yet to confirm the roster for the new season. The Slammers have also been given a chance to stage an Easter Thursday fixture in round three against Lakeside Lightning, whose women’s side is coached by inaugural Slammers men’s coach Marty Zeller. All fixtures will be played as men’s and women’s double-headers except the round 13 reverse fixture against the Giants and a road clash with Geraldton Buccaneers in the penultimate round of the season, where only the men’s team will be in action.
