South West WAFL Watch: Beth Beckett and Doma Fedele on losing end of epic grand final

South West products Beth Beckett and Doma Fedele were on the losing end of an epic WAFLW grand final at Pentanet Stadium on Sunday, with Claremont beating East Fremantle in a three-point thriller. The latest chapter in the rivalry between the two sides saw the underdog Tigers atone for a loss when favoured in last year’s decider by holding on for a 3.2 (20) to 2.5 (17) victory. Roles had reversed between the two sides from last year’s grand final, with the ladder-leading Sharks — who finished the regular season with a 13-1 win-loss record and beat the same opponent in the qualifying final — unable to apply the finishing touches to a dominant campaign. After trailing for the entirety of the day, the Sharks hit the front in the dying stages of the fourth quarter but could not hold on for back-to-back premierships. In a stoppage-heavy affair as rain teemed down for much of the afternoon, co-captain Beckett was heavily involved at the contest, laying nine tackles to go with her nine disposals, while Fedele finished with two disposals and one tackle.
