Speed change at intersection

The notorious intersection of Hynes Road and Forrest Highway near Eaton has had a speed change and police are warning road users to slow down.

South West traffic officer-in-charge Sgt Craig Clarke said the reduced highway speed limit of 80kmh (down from 100kmh) was in response to a number of serious and fatal crashes at the intersection.

Main Roads WA was prompted to conduct an inspection of the area after a third death in nine years.

Sgt Clarke said police would have a presence in the area to ensure drivers were not speeding.

“Take on board the change and adhere to it,” Sgt Clarke said.
