Splash of colour to brighten Donnybrook old arcade with art exhibition

A South West town is preparing to be transformed into a world of colour and creativity when a community art exhibition comes to life this month. Talented Bunbury-Geographe artisans will showcase their arts and crafts in Donnybrook at this year’s Colour Exhibition. A brainchild of the Donnybrook Arts and Crafts Group and Donnybrook Artisans, the exhibition brings a splash of colour to the town’s old arcade, turning it into a bright art lounge hosting about 60 artworks. Exhibition co-ordinator Claire Connolly said this year’s theme, Do You See What I See, challenged artists to think outside the box and was open to creative interpretation. “It helps to connect stories with their artwork and is an idea that you can take out big or narrow in on it,” she said. “There are so many different interpretations, but it’s something people can work towards.” Ms Connolly encouraged visitors to browse the creative works and then stay a while to explore the town. “See and learn from the demonstrations and explore Donnybrook while you’re here,” she said. “The whole street comes alive with colour and activity.” The Colour Exhibition will run from September 25 to October 2.
