The South West Academy of Sport has urged young rising sport stars to apply for its 2019-20 individual athlete support program before applications close on April 30.

SWAS chief executive Bernice Butlion said the program was aimed at helping local talent take the next step towards a sporting career.

“We aim to assist athletes make the transition from State to national or national to international,” she said.

“And we do so by providing access to high-level support right here in the region athletes call home, reducing the need to travel.”

The program is open to teenagers between the ages of 15 and 18 who are excelling at their chosen discipline.
