St John of God Bunbury Hospital remember former doctor Jake Robinson found dead in Mexico

The boss of St John of God Bunbury Hospital has paid his respects to former doctor Jake Robinson, one of the three men found dead following a bungled robbery in Mexico. Jake, 30, was from Perth and spent time working as a medical registrar in Bunbury’s private hospital last year. Mexican authorities confirmed on Monday the three bodies found in Baja California were those of Jake, his brother Callum Robinson, 33, and their friend Jack Carter Rhoad, 30. St John of God Bunbury Hospital chief executive officer Jeffrey Williams said the deaths were being felt through the organisation. “We were devastated to hear about the tragic death of Jake Robinson, his brother Callum and their friend Jack who had been missing in Mexico,” he said. “We send our deepest condolences to his family and loved ones, and our thoughts and prayers are with them at this time.” Mr Williams said Jake was a respected, compassionate, and caring doctor. “He embedded himself in the fabric of our hospital making a lasting difference to the lives of those he cared for and his colleagues,” he said. “His collaborative spirit, sense of fun, and dedication to his future as a doctor has been fondly remembered by our entire hospital community.” Mr Williams said the hospital were working to support staff through this period. “As we come to terms with his death, we have established a condolences book in our Chapel to enable our caregivers and doctors to share their memories of Jake, and we will host a memorial at the appropriate time,” he said. “To support our caregivers during this difficult time we also are providing onsite employee assistance in the hospital this week.” Jake was visiting his brother who had moved to the United States and the pair attended the Coachella music festival before heading south into Mexico for a surfing trip. The brothers and their friend were last seen on April 27 on the Mexican coast but failed to check into their pre-booked accommodation, sparking concern for their welfare. Their bodies were found at the bottom of a more than 15m deep well which had been boarded up, ending days of searching.
