Stelmach’s filly up for Ascot chance

South Western Times

Bunbury Cup winning trainer Chris Stelmach will attempt to win tomorrow’s $24,500 Iron Jack Plate (1100m) at Ascot Racecourse.

The South West trainer has entered Flying Target in the opening race of the meet, despite the three-year-old yet to win a race.

Flying Target has raced twice for just the one placing, a second-placed finish in a 1000m maiden at Ascot earlier this month.

Myalup-based jockey Lucy Warwick will again take the ride, hoping to break the filly’s maiden status in a big mid-week race.

Warwick will also take to the saddle for her father Justin when Route Eighty Eight takes to the $19,000 Glenroy Chaff Handicap (1000m) later in the day.

Stelmach has just one runner for the day.
