Stolen car used to ram raid Treendale Farm Hotel, ATM stolen

South West police are on the hunt after a stolen car was used to ram-raid an Australind pub and steal its ATM. A white Toyota Hilux was allegedly stolen from a timber manufacturing business in Davenport just after 5am on July 15 and used in a ram-raid on Treendale Farm Hotel on The Promenade in Australind. Security footage shows an unidentified man using the truck to pull an ATM out of a wall and drag it out the venue, which was eventually dropped and abandoned. The iconic vintage truck at the entrance to Treendale Farm Hotel appeared to be badly damaged in the video. The vehicle was also involved in several commercial burglaries in Capel and Busselton between 6.30am and 7am. The car was found by South West police dumped in bushland on Stratham Beach later that morning. This is the second incident of this type to occur in a month. In June an ATM was taken from an IGA by using a stolen vehicle in Donnybrook. Bunbury detectives officer-in-charge Detective Sergeant John Harty said this pattern of ATM theft in the South West was concerning and they were stepping up protective measures. “It’s a significant problem in the South West,” he said. “We’re going to contact everyone in the South West who has an ATM and we’ll ask the OICs at the local stations to go and visit them and discuss security measures that they may be able to put in place.” Detectives are still on the hunt for the people involved in the burglaries and are asking for anyone with dashcam footage of the vehicle travelling along either Forest Highway or Bussell Highway in the early hours of July 15 to come forward.
