Driving along Victoria Street and tuned in to Spirit Radio South West 621AM, it did not cross Marion Moore’s mind she would soon be $10,000 richer.

To celebrate the station’s 10th anniversary and popular breakfast announcer Ashley “Dillo” Dillon’s 10 years of hosting, the team had spent months devising local quiz questions for listeners to win cash prizes with each correct answer.

Coincidentally, the final question asked listeners the number of parking bays found on Victoria Street and much to Mrs Moore’s excitement as she travelled on that road, the answer was worth a whopping $10,000 so she immediately rolled her window down and began counting.

“My son was with me in the car at the time so we counted on either side,” she said.

“We were absolutely blown away when we chose the winning number of 136.”

As a pensioner, Mrs Moore said her prize money would go a long way to renovating her home and helping her achieve some long-term wishes.

Thanking all his listeners, Dillo said he was thrilled to give the money to someone special and deserving.

“We are very proud to have awarded such a large cash prize to someone who is probably doing it a bit tough,” he said.

“Thank you for the support Spirit Radio has received since we flicked the switch all those years ago.”
