Buskers and street entertainers are being encouraged to take advantage of a new policy which removes red tape for performers on Bunbury’s streets.

Bunbury City Council last week approved its new CBD Street Activity Policy.

While a focus of the policy is addressing concerns around pushy charity workers, the new guidelines also make it easier for performers.

It reduces red tape while increasing activity by allowing street entertainers to carry out their business permit-free and in all areas of the CBD.

They also no longer have to take out public liability insurance under the policy.

The council will start a 12-month trial from April 1 and seek feedback from activity organisers, local businesses and the general public.
