A house fire that destroyed the contents of a home in Carey Park today is being treated as suspicious.

Firefighters were called to the house on Woodrow Street, opposite Carey Park Primary School, just after 10am today.

The flames were extinguished by 10.40am and Sen. Const. Joel Prime estimated the damage to be in the $150,000 range.

“It’s being treated as suspicious … given the recent events at the house,” he said.

“Structurally the front half of the house might be OK but the contents of the house is smoke damaged and now water damaged.”

Detectives will now investigate the cause of the blaze.

More to come.
