Two South West athletes are preparing to get their first taste of international netball after they were selected in Australia’s 17 and under squad.

Giselle Taylor and Ella Taylor, both 16, were picked after strong National Netball Championships campaigns for WA in Adelaide last month and were selected to attend a special camp at the Netball Centre of Excellence in Canberra in October.

The two teenagers both attend Bunbury Cathedral Grammar School, play for the Souwest Jets and harbour dreams of one day playing for the Australian Diamonds on the big stage.

Giselle said was selected as both a goal keeper and a goal shooter, giving her the opportunity to play at both ends of the court.

“I cannot wait to meet all the other girls over there as well,” she said.

“I want to then go further in netball.”

Ella, who plays in defence, is hoping to develop as a player at the camp.

“I want to become the best person I can be and get the best out of myself,” she said.

Giselle has been included in the National Tall Athlete Camp which will run in July.
