After the opening weekend of the South West Football League season saw a rematch of the 2023 men’s grand final, round two will see the two teams who contested the women’s season decider meet again.

Reigning premiers Bunbury, who beat Busselton by six points in last year’s grand final, will host the Magpies at Payne Park, with the game getting under way at 1.30pm on Sunday.

The Magpies waltzed through the regular season with a 17-1 win-loss record and held the Bulldogs goalless in their only other final but could not complete their campaign on the big stage, denying the club a clean sweep of the league, reserves and women’s premierships.

Bunbury will be without Ruby Mahony, their best player in last year’s grand final, who has headed to Victoria to play for Essendon in the VFLW.

Carey Park will take on Harvey at Kelly Park and Eaton play Dunsborough at Glen Huon Reserve in Sunday’s other fixtures, while Saturday will see South Bunbury play Augusta-Margaret River at Hands Oval and Harvey-Brunswick-Leschenault come up against Collie at Brunswick Oval.

Both Donnybrook teams and South Bunbury’s women’s side have a bye.
