SWFL men’s: South Bunbury looking to complete unbeaten regular season against Harvey-Brunswick-Leschenault

South Bunbury are looking to go unbeaten through the entire South West Football League regular season when they take on Harvey-Brunswick-Leschenault in Sunday’s final round match at Hands Oval. The table-topping Tigers have been in irrepressible form all season long as they chase their first premiership since 2016, with only three of their 17 wins coming by margins less than five goals and 12 being by more than 60 points. The Lions were the last team to go through a regular season without tasting defeat in their 2019 premiership-winning campaign. South Bunbury and Bunbury are locked into the ladder’s top two spots and Harvey-Brunswick-Leschenault are near-certainties to finish third regardless of the weekend’s results, holding a one-win and large percentage advantage over fourth-placed Augusta-Margaret River. The Hawks will secure fourth spot if they beat the Bulldogs at Gloucester Park on Saturday but could drop down to fifth behind Donnybrook if they lose and the Dons defeat Carey Park on Sunday. The sixth-placed Panthers and seventh-placed Busselton — the two teams that contested last year’s grand final — sit only one win outside the top five, but a massive gap in percentage between them and the fifth-placed Dons means they have no realistic chance of featuring in the finals. The Magpies will look to finish their campaign on a winning note against Dunsborough at Dunsborough Playing Fields on Sunday, while Collie will look to break a run of 14 straight losses against Harvey Bulls at Collie Recreation Ground on Saturday. Tenth-placed Eaton finish the season on a bye.
