For the first time in more than a decade, the South West Football League will be missing captain and defender Will Oelsnik for the annual Landmark Championships.

The SWFL has released its initial 67-man squad, with stars such as Brett Peake, Matt Jukes, Ryan Nye, Reece Blechynden and Kieran Hug named.

Oelsnik will miss the championships because he has taken a year away from the game.

The squad will be trimmed down to the final 27-man team in the next few weeks.

The SWFL will begin its campaign for a 23rd Landmark Championship on Friday, July 6, with games against the Avon Football Association and defending champions Peel Football-Netball League at Fremantle Community Bank Oval.

On Saturday, July 7, the South West will travel to the Joondalup Arena to take on Upper Great Southern and Great Northern Football League.

This year’s grand final will be played at Claremont Oval on the Sunday.
