The SWFL women’s team have sent shockwaves throughout the WAFLW community, on the back of two sensational victories at Hands Oval on Saturday afternoon.

Despite several South West players only fresh into their respective club pre-season training campaigns, the SWFL easily defeated Swan Districts 8.8 (56) to 0.0 (0) — before rounding out the scratch match carnival with a determined 7.2 (44) to 4.2 (26) win over East Fremantle.

The Sharks were able to outlast Swans 4.3 (27) to 3.5 (23) in the remaining round-robin clash.

All matches were played in great spirits, with a number of experienced players going about their business in exquisite fashion. Proud Harvey Bulls product Larissa Versaci was easily best afield for East Fremantle in both outings, while Ruby Mahony and Katie-Jayne Grieve were amongst the SWFL’s best.

Prior to the clash, both Adam Dancey (Swan Districts coach) and Matt Templeton (East Fremantle coach) were thrilled at the chance to pit their sides against the South West’s best, as they believed all teams would gain plenty from the experience.

While the black and whites and Sharks will have plenty of positives to take from Saturday’s hit outs, the SWFL’s ability to finish undefeated against quality WAFLW opposition will surely capture the attention of WA football’s powerbrokers.
