SWSA 2023: Dalyellup Park Rangers emerge as finals threat following 18-0 mauling of Dynamos

The Dalyellup Park Rangers have continued to emerge as a finals threat as the South West Soccer Association’s women’s premier league season enters its back half with a dominant 18-0 victory over the Dynamos. Following a mid-season bye last week, teams returned to competition on Sunday with Dalyellup travelling to Forrest Park to go head to head with Dynamos. It did not take long for the Park Rangers to take an early lead with Eleanor Coventry and Kyah Dunkerton each managing a goal within the first 10 minutes. While the Dynamos strived to fight back and respond, they were overwhelmed by the defensive pressure from Dalyellup, who would go on to extend their lead even further with goals via Elizabeth Curtis, Kashia King and Jordan McEleney to lead 5-0 at half-time. A second goal via Curtis just a minute into the second half set the tone for what would become a mauling of the Dynamos side. Despite a yellow card being issued to Siara Novello at the 56th minute, the Park Rangers were in firing form with the likes of Coventry, Dunkerton and Daisy Tansell booting goals to blow out the lead even further. As Dalyellup continued dominating the field, Dynamos found themselves struggling to get in front. As Tansell and Casey Widdeson booted multiple goals, Dunkerton put the exclamation mark on the dominant effort, kicking two goals just a minute apart to notch five goals and help Dalyellup secure the 18-0 victory, leaving Dynamos searching for answers. Elsewhere, Australind held off Bunbury United 4-2, while a five-goal haul from Skye Dalton helped Dunsborough on the way to a 9-0 victory over Hay Park United. Meanwhile in the men’s premier league competition, Australind defeated Bunbury United 2-0, a physical match-up saw Hay Park United defeat Dunsborough 5-0, Dalyellup beat Dynamos 7-4, and Football Margaret River kept their winning streak alive with a 3-1 win over Busselton City.
