Sykes contractors chosen
The highly-anticipated Sykes Foreshore Splash Park precinct is expected to be completed by 2020 with tenders awarded for the works.
Three Bunbury Geographe businesses were awarded contracts, worth more than $990,000, after the final decisions were moved by City of Bunbury councillors at Tuesday night’s council meeting.
Civilcon was awarded the contract to build the toilet facilities, including a male and female toilets and an accessible toilet.
The contract to build the new playground was awarded to Active Discovery and the contract for car park upgrades was awarded to Carbone Bros.
Mayor Gary Brennan said the awarding of contracts meant works could begin shortly on the highly-anticipated project.
"On behalf of Council and the community I am delighted to see this development moving forward and am eager to see it begin to take shape," Mr Brennan said.
"It is also great to have all three tenders awarded to Bunbury Geographe-based businesses, which mean expenditure stays within the region.”
The works are expected to be completed by April 2020.
