Telstra outage hits SW

South West Telstra customers are believed to be feeling the effects of a fire at one of the telco’s exchanges in Sydney this morning.

Major disruptions have been reported nation-wide for customers’ mobile and fixed services.

Telstra’s website confirms a “current interruption” to smart phone services in Bunbury, Eaton, Capel and surrounding areas with an end time to disruptions ‘to be confirmed’.

The outages started about 11am today after Telstra confirmed via Twitter a fire had occurred at its Chatswood Exchange in Sydney.

Another post since by the telco states technicians are on site and doing an assessment.
