The top 10 things to do this week
It’s the week before Christmas, and there is so much to fit in. Here’s our Top 10 list.
1. Christmas Day
Spend the festive day at a number of Bunbury venues with a merry selection of food and drinks. Leave the cooking and cleaning to places like Quality Hotel Lighthouse, Highway Hotel, Sanctuary Golf Resort and Small’s Bar.

2. Gnomesville book reading
Take your little ones on an adventure on Thursday from 10am at Eaton Community Library with Nadia and Norbert and all their friends through the magical Ferguson Valley.
Libby Pardoe will be reading the beautifully written and illustrated book Gnomesville The Real Story by author Lesley Geers, which tells the story of how two lost gnomes found their home in Gnomesville.
3. Father Christmas photos
Capture a memorable photo with Father Christmas at Bunbury Centrepoint and Bunbury Forum shopping centres from 10am daily until December 24.
4. Storytelling with Mrs Claus
Bring the kids down to Treendale Shopping Centre to enjoy Storytelling with Mrs Claus today from 10am to 12pm. She engages children with exciting musical adventures of Father Christmas, the North Pole and Raymond the Littlest Reindeer.
5. Outdoor movie night
Sanctuary Golf Resort will host an outdoor movie night screening this year’s animated Christmas movie The Star on Friday from 6.30pm.
Bring a picnic rug or low chair and enjoy hot food, popcorn, treats and drinks available to purchase.
This is a fully licensed event so strictly no BYO alcohol or outside food and drink.
6. Christmas Eve
Christmas Eve is sorted thanks to a number of Bunbury venues kicking off the festivities.
Head down to Parade Hotel for karaoke from 2pm, the Prince of Wales Hotel for a satisfying meal from 7pm and Lost Bills for an 18 plus party to finish the night.
7. Festive fun
Santa’s helpers and Christmas cocktails are on offer at Rose Hotel on Saturday from 5pm.
All those who make it down may also receive presents.
8. Bad Santa Foam Party
A foamy good time is on the cards at Why Not? on Friday from 10pm.
Residents DJs Watts and Token will take the party through to the wee hours. Also on offer is free pizza.
9. Paddington 2
The much-anticipated sequel to the worldwide hit family film finds Paddington happily settled with the Brown family in Windsor Gardens, spreading joy and marmalade wherever he goes.
When a unique book is stolen, Paddington goes on an adventure to nab the thief. Catch the family comedy at Grand Cinemas Bunbury from Thursday.
10. Pacing and racing
Enjoy some festive pacing and racing in Bunbury this week.
The Bunbury Trotting Club will host a meet tomorrow night while the Bunbury Turf Club will open its gates on Christmas Eve.
The Sunday meeting at the turf club will feature a Class 5 race over 1400m, with the first horses expected to jump at 11.25am.
