Three Slammers’ teams play for grand finals

Three South West Slammers WA Basketball League sides will play for a spot in the grand finals this weekend.

The Under-16 Championship boys and girls divisions as well as the Under-14 boys Second Division Slammers teams will all contest in preliminary finals, with positions in the final game on the line.

Lakeside Lightning awaits the Slammers Under-16 Championship girls team this Sunday at the Bendat Basketball Stadium, while the respective boys team will take on the Rockingham Flames.

The Under-14 division two boys team will take on the Lakeside Lightning from 11am.

Unfortunately for the Slammers, a number of teams had their finals campaign finished at the weekend after they lost their respective elimination finals.

The Under-12 Championship boys team fell to the Joondalup Wolves 68-55, while the girls team were beaten by the Mandurah Magic 49-41.

A powerful Rockingham Flames got the better of the Slammers in the Under-14 Championship boys, winning 82-35.

In the Under-14 division two girls game, the Slammers lost 61-50 to the Cockburn Cougars.

The Under-18 girls Slammers team also fell short of a win, losing to Perry Lakes Hawks 68-58.

Lauren Vincent and Tayah Burrows both top-scored for the Slammers with 14 points, while Eleanor Hartill scored 12.
