Three South West lawyers make compelling argument for best in the State at Women Lawyers of WA awards

Three female lawyers from the South West are set to vie for a professional award presented by the Women Lawyer’s Association of Western Australia on Friday night. South West Community Legal Centre’s Eleanor Yates, and Southern Aboriginal Corporation’s Lauren Rose and Monica Miller, are among six nominees in the running for the 2024 Rural, Regional and Remote Lawyer of the Year. The award recognises an exceptional female lawyer working outside of the Perth metropolitan area in WA who has made an outstanding contribution to their local community and the legal professions. The other nominees are Albany Community Legal Centre’s Jessica Peake along with Legal Aid WA’s Karen Ward and Leanne Wykes. The winner of the award will be announced at a gala dinner at Optus Stadium on Friday night, which coincides with International Women’s Day. Other accolades on offer are Junior Lawyer of the Year, Lawyer of the Year and the Antoinette Kennedy Lifetime Achievement award.
