Tips to pass time in self-isolation
All overseas travellers arriving or returning to Australia must self-isolate for 14 days as part of the Federal Government’s measures to stop the spread of COVID-19.
If someone is required to self-isolate, they must stay home to reduce the risk of transmission and others may choose to social distance themselves and avoid big crowds and minimise physical contact.
To help people pass the time at home, the team at Stirling Street Arts Centre contributed a list of creative activities.
- Write or draw your feelings.
- Make a list of books you have bought but have not read yet, then work on reading them.
- Collect packaging or printed pictures and make a collage in just one colour.
- Learn to draw: copy a picture while it is turned upside down.
- Gather balls of wool and make cardboard discs to make pompoms for decorating your room.
- Use pompoms to try and knock origami hats off each other.
- Draw the same picture every day and see how you improve. Try copying from classical paintings.
- Dig out the colouring books and coloured pencils for some mindful exercises.
- Learn how to crochet granny squares.
- Start knitting a scarf for winter.
- If you have pots of paint lying around, sand and repaint an old piece of furniture or picture frame to give it a new look.
