It will be bargain central in Capel this weekend for the town’s second Garage Sale Trail, with numerous stalls on offer.

The nation-wide community initiative, now in its ninth year, is offering up practical, quirky collectables and colourful second hand finds for shoppers across the nation.

Capel Shire Council waste and sustainability officer James Kain said the initiative was a chance for people to bag a great pre-loved item. “Garage Sale Trail encourages people to choose to reuse items rather than buying brand new items, it prevents unwanted items from going to landfill and creates bargains for people,” he said.

“Garage Sale Trail has been hugely successful Australia-wide and we have some creative people in our shire, so we’re encouraging the community to visit the sales, grab a bargain and meet new people.

“Recycling is an easy way for the community to get involved in reducing our personal resource impact on the planet.

The council will host a car boot sale in the Capel Civic Precinct, with a stall selling pre-loved items.

All proceeds from the stall would be donated to the McGrath Foundation.

Shoppers can map out sales they would like to visit across the weekend by searching the map at www.garagesaletrail.com.au.
