Fitness lovers from all walks of life are now better catered for at the South West Sports Centre thanks to an impressive equipment upgrade.

The $750,000 upgrade was completed this week when the popular RPM room received its fleet of new and colourful bicycles.

A selection of “new and shiny” equipment plus some never-seen-before will cater for all demographics, according to facility team leader Samantha Harnett.

Ms Harnett said the most dramatic change in the upgrades was the ‘Fit for Life’ training room.

“The Fit for Life is really multi-use for us,” Ms Harnett said.

“We can have teen fitness sessions, small group PT and seniors recovering from operations.

“It’s a great social opportunity for that demographic and all about removing social isolation.”

She said highlights of the upgrades included an ‘8 Stack’ station which replaced several machines and the Les Mills SMARTBAR weight sets.

Sport and recreation manager John Kowal said the upgrade was virtually a complete turnover of the upstairs gym equipment.

“We will also include some extra high-demand equipment plus include some speciality machines we haven’t had in the past,” Mr Kowal said.

“We are sure customers will be impressed with the final result and will benefit from this major transformation.”

The upgrade follows a recent $35,000 cafe makeover.
