South West residents should start to see voting packages in the post for next month’s local government elections.

The WA Electoral Commission has started to distribute the packages ahead of the October 19 deadline.

A total of 16 candidates are vying for a seat on Bunbury City Council, while 11 will fight it out in the Harvey Shire Council election.

Capel Shire Council has received 13 nominations and 11 have put their hands up for Dardanup Shire Council.

Acting WA Electoral Commissioner Chris Avent said he encouraged electors to have their say on who would represent them.

Ballot papers must be received by October 19.
