In the midst of an intense double-header, the Souwest Jets were unable to keep up their form from their big win over Peel Lightning, falling short to both the Southside Demons and the Rangers.

The Souwest Jets had themselves a busy weekend after two rounds of WANL action took place at Gold Netball Centre with the Belt Up Round on Friday night and the NAIDOC Round on Sunday.

The double header kicked off with the Jets falling short to the Southside Demons 70-45 on Friday night.

Looking to continue building form after smashing Peel Lightning by 20 goals at the Eaton Recreation Centre during round 11, the Jets were firing out of the gate building up an early lead with goals via Lisa Millman and Giselle Taylor and strong driving by Brooke Gibson and Brooke Repacholi.

However the Demons managed to fight back and eventually lead by three goals at quarter time.

Although the Jets would manage a fast start to the second quarter with Ingrid Moss breathing life into the mid-court, the Demons continued extending their lead thanks to strong defence by Abbey Hanley and Chanel Gomes, along with consistent shooting by Rebecca Lill and Ashleigh Neal to lead 35-22 at half time.

As the Demons continued to extend their lead during the third quarter, the Jets continued fighting hard with Elycce Webb sighted all over the court and Millman and Gibson continuing to attempt shaving the margin down.

However, the Demons held strong to lead 52-38 at the final change.

As the Demons continued to distance themselves from the Jets, Webb was moved into centre after Repacholi found herself struggling to breathe during the fourth quarter.

Despite the Jets’ best efforts, it was not enough to take down the Demons who won by 25 goals.

Looking to bounce back, the Jets went head to head with the Rangers during the NAIDOC Round on Sunday at the Gold Netball Centre.

Although the Jets managed a fast start, the Rangers held strong to take the early lead 16-13 at quarter time.

The second quarter saw the Jets continue fighting hard although the Rangers managed to hold on and extend their lead 32-23 at half time.

It was during the second half that the Rangers managed to assert their dominance with 20-goal hauls during the third and fourth quarters while the Jets seemed to fade.

When all was said and done, the Rangers ran away with the victory 72-40.

Meanwhile in the 20 and Under competition, the Jets suffered their seventh consecutive loss after falling short to the Southside Demons 64-30 during round 12, and the Rangers defeated the Jets 73-40 on Sunday.
