After falling short against the Rangers, the Souwest Jets are gearing themselves up for a tough couple of games with two rounds of WANL taking place in the space of five days.

The Jets are set to return to Perth this Friday, where they will go head-to-head with reigning premiers the Western Roar at the Gold Netball Centre, and quickly back up their efforts against the Curtin Hamersley Comets on Tuesday.

The Roar and the Comets will be setting tough challenges for the Jets, with both sides being undefeated after three rounds of the 2023 WANL season.

“I’m not going to sugarcoat it, it’s going to be a tough couple of games,” Souwest Jets head coach Cherie Farnan said.

“But we will be focusing on our processes, building on our game and connections.

“A solid and reflective week in training will see us learn, reset and attack the next opportunity.”

Farnan said there was a lot to unpack following last week’s 61-40 loss to the Rangers at Eaton Recreation Centre, which featured an incredible third-quarter performance that saw the Jets outscore the Rangers 14-8.

“It was an excellent third quarter,” she said.

“We changed things up to work with our strengths and we got a 14-8 score in our favour which put us within reach going into the fourth.

“Unfortunately some simple errors on our part and the Rangers capitalising meant it got away from us.

“A drop in intensity allows the score to blow out, which was very disappointing.”

During last week’s match-up, a number of the Jets players found themselves up against old teammates, which Farnan believed they handled well.

“It’s always an interesting situation with old teammates — some thrive on it and some get wound pretty tightly,” she said.

“I think our girls have handled things very well and certainly had a fire in the belly which made for some good contests, which they love!”

The last time the Jets met the Roar was in round eight of the 2022 season, where the Roar defeated the Jets 67-47.

The last time the Jets and the Comets squared up was in round nine, where the Comets beat the Jets 57-37.
