South West riders Lucy Warwick and Kyra Yuill finished at the business end of yesterday’s Perth Racing At Home Maiden (1000m) at Belmont Park, with Warwick saluting aboard her father Justin’s runner Big Man In The Sky. Yuill, who was aboard five-year-old Fimozzi, finished third for trainer Kieran McDonagh after chewing on the steel in the closing stages. Warwick won the start brilliantly from barrier four and coasted to the front, with the speed genuine behind the three-year-old. The Warwick stable product proceeded to cruise to home by nearly two lengths and despite Femme Puissante providing a brief challenge, there was no additional resistance to his control. Yuill found things tougher in the Amelia Park Plate (1000m), finishing ninth to Madam Torio after Lou Luciani’s Tarawa was unable to make serious headway in the straight. She was making her second start since resuming from a 25-week spell and Luciani will be hoping she can improve in the future. Capel trainer Paul Roberts, who enjoyed success with his ace Tawny Pete last month at Belmont Park, achieved further success with My Blueboy, who finished third in the Tabtouch Better Your Bet Handicap (1000m). My Blueboy, who has been ultra-consistent this season, showed great resilience after being caught wide early. Hoop Chris Parnham managed to steady the ship and get the five-year-old back on track — finishing two lengths off the pace.
