Rubbish, recycling and green waste pick-up days are now at City of Bunbury residents’ fingertips with a new app launched this week.

The My 3 Bins app can be accessed by smartphone or tablet and includes a landfill, FOGO and recycling pick-up calendar for each suburb.

It also sends notification reminders for hard and green waste collections and even any changes to services over holidays such as Easter.

City of Bunbury waste services manager Aileen Clemens said the new app allowed the city to “keep up with the times” while also saving ratepayers’ money.

“The City of Bunbury usually supply their residents with printed material about collection schedules, waste disposal fees or general advice about what can or cannot be recycled,” Ms Clemens said.

“This can be wasteful in terms of materials used as well as money invested.

“The My 3 Bins app is a more cost-effective method of communicating this information about this essential service.”

The app has been funded through the Waste Authority’s resource and recovery strategy.

Ms Clemens said the initiative was an important part of the city’s waste management.

“In the long run it will be a cost saving to our residents without the loss of information currently supplied paper-based,” she said.

“It will also keep our residents up to date with any changes to the recycling stream, minimising contamination.”
