Watch and Act alert issued

A bushfire watch and act alert has been issued for people in an area bounded by Goodwood Road, Hawley Parkway, Spurr Street and Prowse Road in the Shire of Capel.

The fire is burning out of control and is moving slowly in a north-westerly direction after starting near the intersection of Goodwood Road and Hawley Parkway in Capel.

Motorists are urged to avoid the area, reduce speed and drive carefully due to smoke.

Firefighters are on the scene with air support sent in to help.
