Website aims for a safer community

Bunbury City Council has worked with the Department of Fire and Emergency Services and WA Police to launch a new website.
The Safer Community Network website provides an all hazards approach to community safety and emergency management for Bunbury residents.
It allows members to receive information regarding community safety and emergency trends and tips, give feedback and help strengthen neighbourhood connections.
According to the council, the aim of the website is to empower the community to be resilient to emergency events through social connection and recognition of the value of a shared-responsibility approach.
Mayor Gary Brennan said the website was an example of the City of Bunbury working together with emergency services to deliver a cohesive approach to safety and emergency management.
“I encourage the community to visit the website and sign up to the network,” Mr Brennan said.
“The website is simple to navigate and has a host of relevant and important information readily available and will be regularly updated.”
Residents are encouraged to join the network of people who “know what to do, when to do it and where to go for help when things go wrong”.
The website also lists who to contact in the event of an emergency and provides information on each of the services.
