Where teams in BDCA men’s first grade sit with three rounds to go

After 33 games of cricket in the BDCA men’s first grade competition, all four finalists have been confirmed with three rounds still to play. Colts have had a strong season thus far, sitting on top of the table with eight wins and two losses with six bonus points. Caillin Blackwood has been the division’s star with the bat, scoring 407 at an average of 58. The Colts opener scored a magnificent century against Leschenault in round four, as well as three 50s this season. Colts also lay claim to the top bowler in the division, with Josh Topliss taking 20 wickets at a remarkable average of less than 10. Leschenault and Dalyellup are in second and third respectively, having played nine games. They each have seven wins, two losses and five bonus points to be right in the hunt for top spot. Both sides have a game in hand to Colts but face some difficult fixtures ahead. Two of the Green Caps’ remaining games are against fellow top four opposition, with a final round clash against Dalyellup potentially deciding who makes it into the top two. It has been rough going for Hay Park and Eaton, who both have just two wins. Hay Park’s two bonus points are enough to put them in a distant fifth, while Eaton are sixth. Collie have had a torrid season, only getting a single win in their 10 games so far. There is still time to get themselves off the bottom of the ladder but having played an extra game, they’ll need to string together some better performances. After the long weekend, the division will return with the battle still on to determine the order of the top four. Colts and Marist both have played an extra game, so they’ll have only two matches to push towards finals. Colts have two favourable matches ahead, taking on Hay Park and Collie, while Marist play Eaton and Leschenault.
