Bunbury-raised wicketkeeper-batsman Sam Whiteman is a chance to play for the Perth Scorchers for the first time since last year’s Big Bash League final.

Whiteman injured his right index finger in last year’s win over the Sydney Sixers while keeping to Scorchers’ fast bowler Mitchell Johnson.

In that same game Whiteman scored 41 runs in a 75-run opening stand with Michael Klinger.

The 25-year-old has been named in the 13-man squad for Saturday’s clash against Hobart Hurricanes at the Furnace.

Whiteman has played the last two WACA Premiers League games for Fremantle Districts Cricket Club, scoring 29 and 60 opening the batting.
